Reykjavik, Iceland Sept. 4-5, 2023

The start of a month long trip to Iceland (16 nights), a 9 night cruise (Faroe, Orkney and Shetland Islands) and 3 nights in Edinburgh.  A postponed trip from the pandemic year of 2020.  We flew to Minneapolis (we originally were going to go to Bennie Brian’s wedding, but we got the day wrong (thought it was going to be Saturday, it turned out to be Sunday, and by then we had the whole trip planned and reservations made) so we kept everything the same but missed the wedding and flew to Minneapolis and then on to Reykjavik.  By international flying standards, not bad, only a 6 hour flight from Minneapolis to Reykjavik.  Managed to stay awake all day before crashing that night (early days of travel are always challenging).  We parked our rental car near our night’s stay and walked Reykjavik.  We had a relaxing coffee (well several coffees…free refills) at Reykjavik roasters, visited the iconic church in the heart of town, walked the main streets and browsed in some stores, walked the waterfront including the impressive music hall.  Had pizza for dinner at highly rated Flatey’s pizza blocks from our accomodation and fell into a long and deep sleep.
