Drive from Hofn to Vik Iceland Sept. 16, 2023

Photos from our very rainy day.   At or near our guesthouse near Hofn and from the terminus of a glacier also very nearby our guesthouse (perhaps 6 miles down the road) that our hostess told us about…a place to see a glacier up close without any other people…and indeed there were only 2 other groups of people there.  It’s a good thing we went there, as the day turned real nasty and by the time we got to the famous must see glacial lagoon (you know 100 plus cars, boat tours, etc.) it was raining steadily, which then turned into a hard rain for most of the rest of the day, and another gale with high wind and heavy rain here in Vik (literally we are staying right at the black sand beach) where we are tonight.  We did get some shots at the must see lagoon, and a few of other glaciers, but had to pass on a number of waterfalls and other shots as it was raining so hard.  We really loved our glacier walk though, a real highlight and frankly much cooler than the must see glacial lagoon (which is still impressive).  As we are on the ring road and heading back towards Reykjavik the traffic and crowds have picked up, particularly compared to most of the rest of the trip where we have felt like we often had Iceland to ourselves).
