Seville, Spain April 9-10, 2019
Sevilla, Spain was not a stop on the trip...a bit bigger (750,000 people) and with a car I wasn't so sure when I planned the trip and you have to pick and choose. What I know is we won't see it all (even in our five week trip); we will miss some places that others say you have to see; and we will definitely see lots of places that most tourists never see that are more off the beaten path that are really wonderful (like Monsanto, coming up in next post). With that as a prelude so many people that Donna is communicating with back in the US are saying Sevilla is their favorite...so we do a very unlike Don and Donna thing and only stay one night in Granada (we "eat" the second night as it is way to late to cancel the second night of the airbnb), and do a last minute airbnb booking in Sevilla. It's a great airbnb, much easier to get to than in Granada, and although our time is short in Sevilla, we really enjoy it..night time shots of the cathedral (one of largest in the world), and a few of the fort as well, and then we take in the Plaza de Espanol the next day and walk some more in Sevilla before heading out. Sevilla at night was magical, and although our time was too short to tour either the cathedral or the fort, although we have toured so many historic churches and castles over the last few years that at some point they all begin to blur together, so neither of us is disappointed. Donna ranked Sevilla as her favorite of the bigger towns we have been in in Spain (Sevilla, Granada and Barcelona). So a short but worthy stop. Our airbnb host, Carlos, emails us after we leave that "now we have a friend in Sevilla".
