Midelt, Morocco March 27, 2019
After Fes, we headed inland through a variety of scenery; fertile valleys, cedar and pine forests (even a small ski area) and barren rocky landscapes on the way to Midelt, a small market town, originally built as a base for mining in the area - nestled between the Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains at an elevation of 1500 meters. We bought lunch staples at a very large and modern supermarket outside of Fes for a lunch inside a nomadic Berber's "house", which was built of whatever available scraps they could find...check out my photo - it does ironically have small solar panel on top. Also, a "monkey" stop before lunch. We did a short hike upon arriving in Midelt near a small gorge, and walked through a local old village (again note the simple mud town with numerous satellite dishes on top).
