Triglav National Park, Slovenia Sept. 12, 2018
It is only a two hour drive south to Piran, Slovenia our next place, but we decided to do a side trip through the Julian Alps and Triglav National Park. It turned out to be around a 7 hour side trip, but the Julian Alps were beautiful and it was a beautiful sunny day, so we're glad we did it. The road through the park has 50 hairpin turns, and reaches a mile high elevation at the top. We pulled over a number of times for photos, and had a nice lunch at a roadside picnic table in the park. A long and windy road trip to get over to the A1 motorway to head to Piran with many road construction spots (one lane with a traffic light at each end), but at around 7 PM, we finally made it to Piran...which is the next post. All of the scenery was wonderful. Slovenia is hilly/mountainous and also very green; so very nice.
