Slavonice, Czech Republic Sept. 4-5, 2018

After Telc, we drove to Slavonice, on the Austrian border.  The road between Telc and Slavonice was closed and no detour was indicated so we wound around for a while, and then the direction part of our offline google map quit, but we eventually got here...however, when we got here we couldn't find our accommodation, and we couldn't get a hold of the lady who had the key (she didn't answer her phone (we found out later it quit) and with the help of a local waiter, we managed to get a hold of the owner of our airbnb, who lives in Switzerland, and after two frustrating hours finally got into our flat. That is how it can go sometimes when traveling on your own.  But we love our spacious (large) renovated flat in a 500 year old building on Slavonice's town square.  We relaxed in the morning, knocked around the town square and took a self guided walking tour of the town.  We ate pizza, greek salad and a beer each for dinner each night at Rick Steve's recommended restaurant in town, the restaurant.Kavarna at the Besjdk Hotel  (it was yummy, very inexpensive...$14.50 the first night; $16.00 the second night for both of us.)  This is a low tourist area except for Austrians who bike or drive over the border for inexpensive beer and food.  Very few Americans head here.  We loved it.
