Dubrovnik, Croatia Sept. 26-27, 2018

The road was open out of Orebic, although parts of the fire were still smoldering...we saw where the fire had jumped the road in two different places...so we headed over to Dubrovnik, about a two hour drive.  We did a quick stop in  Ston to take a few photos of the medieval wall complex (the first two photos).  We got to Dubrovnik, checked into our apartment, (with a view of the old walled city off to the left), got settled and headed over to the old city of Dubrovnik and back to tourism central.  We walked around the old city within the large walled city (Game of thrones "central") an hour and a half walk with many photos stops...crowds were thinning on the walls, and lighting was really good, so we timed our visit in the old city just right.  Finished our first day in Dubrovnik with dinner at a highly rated "cheap eats" restaurant (Dubrovnik is pricy compared to most places we've been) for a yummy meal (even had left overs which we turned into a pasta and chicken dinner the next night at our apartment (also yummy).  Our second day, we had had enough of the touristy stuff, so we walked along the coast from our apartment, I did a short swim at a beach along the way (we had worn our suits just in case), bought a few groceries and had our dinner at the apartment.  A very relaxing day on a beautiful day with highs in the low 70's and sunny.  Dubrovnik is very scenic (more so than Split, although we enjoyed Split), but even more touristy..at least in the old walled city.  You get away from that though (and you have to visit the old walled city at least for a while), and it was much quieter, and very scenic.  So a good last few days in Croatia.  We head back to Slovenia tomorrow before then heading to Prague and flying home.
