Orebic & Korcula, Croatia Sept 23-25, 2018

After our idyllic time on Brac Island, we headed back to Supetar to get on the car ferry back to Slit and our 4 hour drive to Orebic.  To get there, we drove through a very small part of Bosnia-Herzegovina (the town of Neum, maybe 6 miles or less), we had our passports at the ready but they just waved us on through at both borders.  Orebic was much nicer than I thought, with a lovely seaside promenade and two good meals here as well.  Our accommodation has a shared mini-kitchen in the hallway, but we are the only guests out of the three rooms on the second floor, so we had it all to ourselves.  It's on the main drag but it has a nice view of the sea, and is only a couple minute walk to the promenade.  We took at the passenger ferry to Korcula, which is why I decided to stay here.  Korcula makes all the lists as one of the top 5 places to visit in Croatia.  It was where Marco Polo was born, and the city dates back to Greek times.  The old town is a walled city with the usual very narrow streets.  It is touristed but it's getting near the end of the tourist season here (pretty much ends by mid-October) so not too crowded.  There was a huge cruise ship anchored in the bay, that was shuttling lots of people back and forth to Korcula but they moved on after our first hour there.  It got very windy in the afternoon, and temps dropped quite a bit, and we actually broke out our long pants and jackets for the first time in a month (first time ever for Donna on the trip).  Another beautiful Adriatic Croatian region.
