Saint Martins, NB to Mount Desert Island, ME October 15, 2019

Well, last night was our only shaky stay of the entire trip...basically a room in a run down old Captains house that was less than clean.  However, we stuck it out and the owner, Cameron and his partner, Jeff turned out to be really gracious and we ended up having a good time there.  A nice breakfast in the morning cooked by Jeff who worked as a cook/chef in Whitehorse in mining camps for years and then ended up on the east coast of Canada...he and Cameron ( a nurse) met on a dating web site.  Both were in their early 60's.  A young couple (carpenter/general construction) were staying with them while they worked on fixing up a mobile home for Cameron on the back of the property that Cameron and Jeff move into in the winter...it costs a fortune to heat the old captains house.  We had a nice visit with everybody that morning and even got a piece of homemade pumpkin pie each as a bonus.

Drove across the border (easiest and quickest border crossing ever. only one car ahead of us, a couple of standard questions and we were on our way), and then it was nonstop color all the way to Acadia National Park.  We finally got a chance to pull over in a gorgeous spot to grab some photos before driving to Acadia, stopping in the visitor center and then driving the 27 mile loop road and up to the top of Cadillac Mountain and getting some more photos.  Acadia was very busy but beautiful.  The most people we've seen on the whole trip by a long shot.  The fall color has just been outstanding, even better than our fall New England trip a few falls ago, and that was great.
