Island Life in the Discovery Islands, Quadra Island 2: Beech Mtn. Hike, Anne's garden

Time to get hiking, so we choose the Beech Mountain hike, a fairly steep hike up to the top of Beech Mountain (about 1300 feet up) and several viewpoints. It's abnormally warm, and when we break out into the sun it's hot. But the views are wonderful, and we have a great lunch at the top. We meet a couple from the Parksville area on Vancouver Island, and discuss hikes in the area (the only people we see on the hike though). That night it's home made hamburgers on the new grill (Nic puts these together and they are the best burgers I've ever had).

Anne has invited us to stop by and see her garden so we head down the hill, and view their property, and a gorgeous property it is - we could live there in a heartbeat... but alas, we add it to the list of places we wish we could afford but can't. We hit it off real well with Anne (I'm sure Don, too, but we only meet him once)... it turns out we are the same ages (Donna and Anne are weeks apart in age), have similar interests, each have three children, and we both clearly love Quadra Island!
