Tatio Geysers, April 3, 2018

This is our early morning excursion, since the goal is to be at the geyser field a little before sunrise.  The geyser field "shows off" best in the early morning when temperatures are low.  We depart Tierra Atacama at 6:00 AM, and get to the geyser field about 7:20 AM.  It is -10 degrees C or about 20 degrees F when we arrive.  The geyser field is at around 13,000 feet elevation and I suspect is the highest geyser field in the world.  We wander around the geysers with our guide and an elderly couple from Pennsylvania, waiting for the sun to rise and warm us.  After the sunrise we have a breakfast at the site with various foods brought up with us in the van.  On the way back we stopped and got photos of Pequenos, Llamas, numerous birds, Vicunyas (more on all of these in a later post about Atacama wildlife).  The addition of the wildlife viewing made for a memorable morning.
