First excursion in Atacama Desert - Valle De Luna
There were 6 of us on the excursion plus our driver and our guide, Flavio. Thomas and Gabrielle from outside Santiago, Sarah and Michael from near Zurich, Switzerland, and the old guys from Colorado, Don and Brad. Very southern Utah like terrain but with the addition of Volcanoes..fairly pleasant temps, a photo op stop, hiking the Valle de Luna..a slot canyon, and a short hike/photo op stop made up the morning. Two quick stories ... our guide said that David Gilmour from Pink Floyd stayed here in the last year. Also, Sarah asked what we used to do (we had already indicated we were retired), and Brad said what is the most boring job you can think of, and Sarah guessed accountant...Excellent! Very funny. This place is 5 star...the kind of place you would expect to run into rock stars at. Phenomenal lunch buffet (great breakfast spread too). More on this place with photos in a few days.
