Santiago, Chile Last stop on the month long tour of Argentina and Chile

One night and two days in Santiago before heading back home.  The first day we did the cable car ride up to the top of the large hillside park in Santiago, where a statue, small church etc. is built at the top.  An old Fenicular takes you down the other side.  Santiago is a fairly modern city particularly when contrasted with Buenos Aires.  The tallest building in South America is here (about 60 stories I believe)..the city is built amongst groups of hills/mountains and suffers from fairly bad smog much of the time.  The second day in Santiago we did a free city tour, which like Valparaiso was very interesting and well done.
