Diablo Canyon hike - Atacama Desert April 2, 2018

Our evening hike is with Coco again as our guide, and we are the only two participants.  Word must have spread around to stay away from those gringos from Colorado.  Coco is a great guide and he and I visited a lot about travel in the western US and Canada, as he and his girlfriend/partner are thinking of coming to the US in the next few years on vacation.  We hiked up a steep incline, followed by viewing some petroglyphs, an easy hike in a broad canyon with views of volcanic peaks, and then our descent and hike through the diablo canyon.  Very southern Utah like except that southern Utah doesn't have any volcanoes.  Coco and I exchanged information at the end of the hike..who knows maybe he will visit in a few years.  When we got back, we were hailed from the bar, "Americans, come join us".  It was Tim and Janene from Melbourne that we had met the other day..they were already in the tank, and we felt obligated in joining them for one drink, which led to us joining them for dinner.  Tim was totally sauced and kept telling us "he loves Americans"  " I love you guys"  "  Tell me, are you in a good place right now"  "Do you love your wife",  (Strong affirmative by the way, and Tim even in his inebriated state said that Donna was absolutely lovely, proving he could still se straight. )  By the time we made our exit, skipping dessert, Tim was going up to staff, even the hotel manager and giving them all hugs.  Quite the experience.
