SLC hike - take 2; Donna's shoulder

Donna has a grade 2 bordering on grade 3  AC joint separated shoulder (you might have noticed the sling in previous posts pictures), but she is the one that really wants to go hiking again, so off we go, this time up Big Cottonwood Canyon.  Same spectacular colors as the day before, maybe even a bit more brilliant...no dogs this time as they are not allowed on this trail, so a bit less crowded than on Saturday.  Just Anna, Don and Donna this time.  We ended up hiking about 6 miles each day, beautiful afternoon hikes.

So how did Donna manage to injure her shoulder?  A bit embarrassing but she fell off of the washing machine.  Now a reasonable person might ask what she was doing on the washing machine - she of course wonders that too now - although it seemed like a perfectly reasonable thing to do at the time.  She needed some storage bags which were in top cabinet above washer - gets out the step stool, climbs onto washer from step stool, grabs bags, goes to step back down, step stool collapses and she slams into dog kennel/floor with her left shoulder/back.  Big time ouch!  I was in the next room (maybe working on photos) - but she didn't want to bother me to help her - .  6 month total recovery time.  She is a bunch better already, although she'll be taking percocet at night for quite a while for the pain.  Orthopedic doctor said this is a very painful injury (he had same injury 14 years ago - skiing).  She's already shown she can hike with her wounded wing, which is a very good thing since we are going to New Zealand for a month followed by 9 days in Fiji, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary (slightly early - married on January 16, 1982).  Lots of Blogs ahead from the South Pacific.

Here are the pics from hike number 2.
