Day 2, Colorado Fall trip, Highway 62 and Curecanti Creek

Got up and had my coffee and headed out on Highway 92, heading along the Black Canyon of the Gunnison rim towards Blue Mesa Reservoir and Highway 50.   At a sharp bend in the road, County/Forest Service Road 720 takes you back on a gravel one lane road up Curecanti Creek.  Curecanti Creek Ranch is located there (lucky family that owns that one).  I drove up 6 miles, and parked at an unofficial campsite off the road, by the creek and then went on a 6.5 mile hike up the road to the end and then on to a hiking trail up the creek valley.  Beautiful fall colors back here and I literally had the whole place to myself.   Nice campsite with beautiful fall color and Mountain View’s everywhere you looked.  I set up camp, had dinner and took in the beautiful star filled night sky…Colin would have taken a great Milky Way shot here.  What a beautiful and peaceful location.
