New England Fall - Kent, CT: Great fall colors and a rock star

Down to Kent Connecticut through the Berkshire Hills of Western, MA with a brief stop at Tanglewood (summer home of the Boston Symphony) - very beautiful; then a stop in Stockbridge, MA, last home of Norman Rockwell, site of the original Alice's Restaurant, Edith Warton's home, etc....

Our airbnb is in the countryside about 4 miles from Kent.  The owners are a ceramic artist (of some renown, I think) and her musician husband.  But as it turns out the musician husband is no plain vanilla guitar picker - he is Steve Katz, a cofounder of the Blues Project, and that's right, Blood, Sweat, and Tears.  I am a bit amazed to say the least.  Steve is the recipient of 3 grammys (out of ten nominations), and really an icon of the 60's music scene.  He mentioned it so casually, and told us not to mention it in our airbnb review (I mention it in the BLOG, because I'll be lucky if one or two people actually read this other than me).  He's 71, and just wrote a memoir that we bought and he signed.  He knew everyone from that era - looking forward to reading it.

Kent was a quaint small town and there are several state parks close by.  We knock around town (I take photos, Donna hunts for bargains), and hike to the top of Mount Tom and the stone fire tower at the top for a 360 view of the fall colors, and a great hike in Macedonia Brook State Park where the view at the top of the ridge is spectacular - we did a loop, and the way down was insane, parts were nearly vertical (they may not have tall mountains, but some of the trails back east have been very steep!)..  We took in a few more covered bridges, and finish our time with a relaxing and wonderful dinner at Fife and Drum.
