Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area, March 11, 2026

Normally this would be the peak winter recreation time with maximum snow depth on all the trails, but instead there is hardly any snow below 10,000 feet and precious little even higher up.  So, I decided to do a Colorado Plateau country hike between Delta and Grand Junction, in the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area.  Both dogs joined me on a 9.5 mile RT hike, up the Gunnison and then up Big Dominguez Creek.  Saw no one going in, and four groups on the way back down.
