Comox BC, June 16-21, 2025

Caught the 9:25 am ferry to Swartz Bay, and drove to a Rack Attack to have them check my rack.  A part needs to be tightened but it would require taking everything off the rack and taking off the rear rack to tighten.  They thought it would be fine until I get to Cortes Island where I will be taking everything off for the two weeks we are there.  Drove up to Comox with a stop in Duncan to talk about boats with Lifetimer boats…probably won’t happen, but worth the stop.  Headed to Costco to top up the air in my tires as the tire pressure light came on again (I’ve got brand new tires), and then took a local walk; unloaded, made dinner and then did another 4 miles walk out to Spit and climbed part of the hill.

Solo day on Tuesday.  Decided to try out the bike, and did a 16 mile morning bike ride.   Windy day.  It would not have been a good day to kayak anyway.  There were several kite boarders down at the spit, and a person learning to roll back up in a sea kayak.  Also got some Canadian cash for the trip at an ATM with my Capital One debit card.  The electricity was out at my airbnb for much of the day…BC hydro was working on underground electric for most of the day.  Took an afternoon walk, and then picked up a microwaveable dinner.  Donna and I were originally going to go out to dinner tonight, but due to unusual morning thunderstorm activity in Denver her flight was delayed over three hours, which made her miss her flight to Comox.  They put her on the 9 o’clock flight from Vancouver, and she finally arrived here around 10 pm.

Laid back day in Comox.  Had a late lunch/early dinner at the Blackfin Pub, and who is sitting a few tables away from us, but none other than Donna’s ex body pump friend/Quadra Island resident, Roseanne, along with her mother, who lives in Comox, and her sister.  Took an evening 3.5 mile walk, our usual here, Baybrook area, Mack Laing forest park, out to Goose Spit, up the big hill, and back.

Hiked 4.6 miles in Seal Bay, then headed to Costco, picked up pizza and salad, ate, and Donna picked off and packaged up the meat off of 2 Costco chickens.

Last full day in Comox, we hung out, and did our local walks and did some shopping and packing in preparation for our 6 weeks out on Cortes and Quadra Islands.  Put the Half and Half Adventures logo (Kirsten designed) on the kayaks too!
