2 WEEKS ON SALT SPRING ISLAND
We wrapped up our two month stay in BC with 2 weeks on Salt Spring Island. The boathouse at Daffodil Cove is the accomodation we’ve stayed for the most years. Harold and Sabine, the owners, have become friends…the boathouse, although small, sits right on the ocean on 6 quiet private acres and now that they’ve added a 4 burner stove/oven, a full size refrigerator and now a new deck, it’s even better. Borderline tame deer every day (three fawns and two does this year) around the place…some wonderful hikes, great kayaking with a number of different put in spots, great artisans, and great peace at our location. Donna had to leave a few days early due to having to get back to clean up her deceased Aunt’s apartment, etc. A nasty US border agent leading to an agricultural inspection of my car leading to the confiscation of two packages of chicken ramen (all of the US will sleep better knowing that ramen didn’t make it into the US….now if I’d had a cache of weapons…no problem). Welcome back! …Next time I’ll just forget to come back…I like hockey and I know that PEI was the site of Canada’s confederation meetings leading to the formation of Canada the country. That ought to be good enough to grant me at least permanent alien status don’t you think.
