First days on Cortes Island, BC June 2023

We left Comox, drive the short distance to Campbell River, did some grocery shopping, and then took the two ferries to Quadra Island, and then the second ferry to Cortes.  Saw humpbacks from the ferry, which was a great way to start our next five weeks plus on Cortes and Quadra.  We are staying at the mouth of Manson’s lagoon again at Nora and Ian’s “penthouse”, above their home, a 1938 former float house, now nestled on 8 acres.  The Deutsch’s were here for one day, and Brad was here for 5 days.  We went to The Deutsch’s airbnb on west side of Cortes and had “Burger Barn” along with Brad for dinner at their place.  An early morning paddle into the lagoon and around the area, a walk at Linnaea farm, tide pooling right in front of our place, a solo sunset paddle, a hike with Brad in Kwas Park, a second sunset paddle with Donna an early morning paddle with Brad and a hike to the top of Easter Bluff with Brad were our activities in our first few days on Cortes.  Donna’s cough lingers, with progress slow, but she is a trooper.
