Quadra Island July 2019 Humpbacks, Eagles, Seals and More!

We loved our accommodation on Cortes Island, and we liked our Quadra accommodation even more (of course it was more money too).  A recently updated 650 square foot studio apartment right on the ocean and just down the road from where we have previously stayed on Quadra Island.  New everything and super clean and you are looking right out on Sutil Channel with Marina and Cortes Islands across the way, and the multilayered view of the islands to the north that we are so familiar with and love and the mainland BC peaks behind Cortes, and if that wasn't enough, the icing on the cake are the humpbacks.  They cruise by for multiple hours almost every day.  It is beyond magical!

We also see eagles all the time and they are often posing right on nearby trees and rocks.  And of course we know the places to really see seals here too, and Donna and I kayak four days together and I do two solo paddles.  We do one new hike  - the Shelligan trail  - very nice and tide pool for a bit one day too.  Because of the humpbacks it was actually hard to pull ourselves away to go kayaking, but by the end of our week, we were causally looking out and seeing the humpbacks and not running around grabbing cameras etc.  Great sunrises from this place if you are a really early riser (sunrise was around 5:15 AM), but nice sunset afterglow shots from here too.

I'll think of a few other tidbits for the second post on our time here.  Here is the first half of the photos  from Quadra.
