Spectacular fall colors in Colorado's high country

Home for about ten days after the BWCA trip and I head west, leaving on October 2nd. I'll be gone for about 2.5 weeks, taking in the fall colors in the Colorado High country, then heading to the coast of CA in redwood country for a 5 night backpack trip along the Lost Coast, and ending up with a 4 night stay in Saint George Utah. But let's start with the fall colors in Colorado's high country. I hit it pretty close to the peak, past peak for the highest elevations but really close to peak for some of the the best areas. This was a drive, pull over and take pictures car camp trip; so I logged a lot of miles and took in a number of great areas. Headed over Kenosha Pass (a bit past peak in this area), through the San Luis Valley, over to South Fork, through Creede and Lake City, ending up in the Ohio Creek Valley north of Gunnison where I car camped for the night. The next day I toured the Keebler Pass area west of Crested Butte (Colin and his friend Chris had camped and hiked in this area the week before, but it had snowed on them and because of the weather they only caught glimpses of the color - the snow added much to the beauty of the colors I saw, however), then headed down to Ridgeway and the Dallas Divide , finishing with a drive by Telluride and over Lizard Head Pass before heading into Utah and spending the night car camping off the road leading to the Needles area of Canyonlands National Park. These are all some of the best areas for fall high country colors and it was indeed beautiful. Enjoy the pics.
