English/Canadian friends, paddling and other fun in Cowichan Bay

We caught the 4 o'clock ferry on July 6th from Vesuvius to Crofton, and drive to Pip and Derricks home just outside of the town of Cowichan Bay.  They purchased this property the same year Colin and I went sea kayaking in Desolation Sound (8 years ago?), so Colin and I saw this land before they built their Derrick designed log home.  It sits at the bottom of a hill, along an estuary, so they have water in front of their place about half the time.  It's a beautiful home in a very nice setting.

Our time here includes a fun Sunday church service at their local Anglican Church, a walk around town, and a great lunch at the pub on the water, 3 fantastic dinners prepared by Pip - home made pizza, steaks cooked over a wood fire, and halibut - five star, a walk at an historic wooden trestle bridge, meeting their lovely daughter Fran and her husband Richard, a slideshow of Derricks fantastic African slides - particularly the fantastic bird photos, and a grand all day kayaking adventure for Don while Donna and Pip knocked around the area and Derrick attended to his business venture, kozzeewrap.  All that and much laughter!

A wonderful time with good friends in another great place.
