Colin Andrew Halffield, March 16, 1989-January 13, 2024

Below is Colin’s obituary written primarily by Donna, with input from Anna and Kirsten.  I’ll be adding many photos and other thoughts later but this is a start.  The loss of Colin is so difficult and painful.

Colin Andrew Halffield, passed away on January 13, 2024 in Broomfield, Colorado. Born on March 16, 1989 in Denver, he was the cherished son of Don and Donna Halffield and the loving brother of Kirsten Halffield and Anna Heinz. After a courageous 3 1/2 year battle with long Covid, including blood clots, severe depression, chronic pain and opioid dependency, his suffering became unbearable. Colin will always be remembered for his kindness, his many talents, his exuberance for life and for the love and affection he showed family and friends.
 ‍
Colin’s curiosity and intelligence were evident in many aspects from building his own furniture, to becoming proficient in the latest technology, to living on a sailboat in the Mediterranean Sea. In his job as an ophthalmology technician and phlebotomist, Colin’s sensitive, caring nature made patients feel immediately at ease. A profound love for animals meant there was never a stray dog he did not want to rescue.

An avid photographer, Colin captured the world around him with a unique and thoughtful perspective. His photographs are a window into his soul, revealing a deep appreciation for nature and the beauty of life. Colin’s love for the outdoors was expressed through his passion for skiing, hiking and exploring diverse landscapes worldwide, including Europe and South America.

Colin’s quick wit, kind heart, and adventurous spirit touched everyone he met. He was known for his ability to light up a room, for his readiness to embark on novel adventures, and his eagerness to read and explore topics in science, nature, travel, philosophy, religion, medicine and politics.
 ‍
Colin is survived and deeply missed by his loving parents, Don and Donna Halffield, his sisters, Kirsten and Anna, brother-in-law, Nic Heinz, and niece, Aria Heinz. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Dick and Judy Cornwell, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Don and Genevieve Halffield.

‍A service to celebrate Colin’s life will be held on April 6, 2024. Anyone interested in attending, please contact Donna Halffield at 720-935-9613.
