Fair Isle, Sept. 27, 2023

Our last stop before our Hurtigruten cruise ends in Edinburgh was Fair Isle, a small island between the Shetland and Orkney Islands.  Thus we again came back north to take this in, and so glad they did all of this juggling as we had a spectacular day on Fair Isle.  They said it’s the first time the weather has been good enough to land at Fair Isle in the fall.  We joined the hiking group and walked along cliffs again out to a lighthouse, and then back.  A beautiful landing spot for our Zodiac landing, and just a really wonderful hike and day on Fair Isle.  I believe they said the whole island is under the protection of Scotland’s nature preserve system, although there are a small number of inhabitants…typical of European Parks, which usually have some human habitation.    A really spectacular day.
