Sedona, AZ with Bill and Karen Dec 28-31, 2017
Our good friends Bill and Karen retired to Sedona Arizona in mid 2017 and we've been wanting to check out their new home and the surrounding area, so since this is our "off" year with Nic and Anna, we drove to Sedona at the end of the year a few days after Christmas. It's been a sparse year for snow, almost no snow in southern Colorado so far, but that translated into great roads for driving (820 miles - 12 hours). We spent four nights and three full days with Bill and Karen and thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a beautiful home that backs up to National Forest with views of red rock formations out their back. Truly impressive! We hiked all three days (Karen sat out the first day as she was under the weather but gamely joined in on days 2 and 3) and came away very impressed with Sedona. We ate out three lunches, Thai, Thai and Mexican, and enjoyed all three meals. Snack dinners, and a delicious Rosemary chicken dinner by Karen with wine and conversation every night where we touched on all the verboten subjects...a safe crowd as we are generally very aligned in our worldview. Opportunities to return will multiply once Donna retires for good....perhaps in June??
