Great snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in Lake City, CO

Long time friend Brad suggested he spring for a cabin for three nights in Mueller State Park for some snowshoeing (kind of a pay back for his time at my rented condo in Jan/Feb).  Low to no snow at Mueller State Park, so I suggested Lake City, about 5 hours SW of Denver, a gorgeous part of the state and very low visitation in the winter.  We've been here a number of times before and have found a great and inexpensive accommodation at the Lake City Basecamp.  So Lake City it is...We were there midweek (Much 7-9), and did indeed have the place to ourselves (the house and the town and surrounding area).  Sunny skies and warm for all three days, and Brad was very impressed as he had never spent any time in this area.  Snowshoeing up Cottonwood creek the first day, cross country skiing (me) snowshoeing (Brad) to Capitol City the second day, and up the Cinnamon Pass Road the third day.  Absolutely spectacular and not one other person on any of the trails.
