Hiking the "Island in the Sky" , Canyonlands National Park

After hanging out with Anna, Nic and Aria in SLC, Donna flew back home to go back to work, and I took off on a 3 day camping/hiking trip to the "Island in the Sky" unit of Canyonlands National Park. Over the course of three days I took in the sights including all of the touristed drive to spots/ short hikes like Aztec Butte, Green River Overlook, Whale Rock, Upheaval Dome, Buck Canyon Overlook, Grand View Point Overlook, and White Rim Overlook.. Also did two longer day hikes 11 mile Murphy Loop which included 1400 feet of elevation loss (straight down, couldn't believe there was actually a trail) and that same 1400 feet back up at the end of the hike; and the 6 mile Neck Spring hike loop.  Had great weather and not a lot of other folks so a grand time.  Spectacular canyon country.

  1. You made a nice choice Don. Karen and I were at Bryce and Zion last week, and we had snow in both locations. But hey, being outdoors in Utah is good either way :)
